YouTube Launches YouTube Create: A New App for Video Editing, Effects, and More

YouTube launched a new app for creators called YouTube Create, which provides a suite of easy-to-use, free tools for producing both Shorts and longer videos. The app aims to tackle several challenges creators encounter, particularly in the editing process and the use of creative features such as stickers, GIFs, and effects.

The development of YouTube Create involved consultations with 3,000 creators, ensuring that the app was designed based on their feedback.

To utilize the app, creators simply add their clips and choose from a variety of editing tools to start crafting their videos. The app allows users to preview splits and trim clips while assembling their content. Additionally, it includes thousands of stickers, GIFs, and a selection of effects to enhance their videos.

Additionally, YouTube Create will offer access to YouTube’s library of royalty-free tracks, allowing creators to choose from thousands of songs to enhance their videos. All these tracks are copyright-safe, enabling creators to monetize their videos without concerns about copyright issues. The app also features a capability that syncs the beats of the selected song to the video clips, a functionality that has gained popularity through TikTok.

The YouTube Create app also includes features for audio cleanup, allowing users to remove unwanted background noise, and can automatically generate captions that can be added to videos with a single tap. Once editing is complete, creators can export the final product directly to their YouTube channel.

The decision to offer a separate app for video creation has been well-received within the creator community. Even with TikTok’s built-in effects, many creators use ByteDance’s CapCut to edit and prepare their TikTok videos.

YouTube Create is launching its beta version today for Android users across eight markets: the U.S., Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, India, Korea, and Singapore.
