YouTube has introduced a new "Website Visits" option for tracking direct traffic in paid promotions.

YouTube launches new feature to boost visits to sites through sponsored ad buys and introduces "Web Visits" as a campaign objective in its YouTube Studio.

"It's easier than ever to reach your target audience and convert video views into site visitors. Straight from YouTube, leverage promotions to meet the goals in your growth strategy. In just a few quick inputs like country and language targeting, get your ad up and running. Over time you can start getting results and track the site visits you're generating on the Promotions tab in YouTube Studio."

This development leads to a more simplified method of driving traffic to a site, giving advertisers the ability to more accurately understand response but also employs more incentive tools for promotion.

YouTube explained that the new metric can be used in all ad types across Shorts, the main feed, and skippable in-stream ads, but the videos will still be labeled "Sponsored." However, YouTube does note that promotions remain separate from an organic channel reach and discovery. "Any subscribers and watch time accumulated from ads won't be included toward YouTube Partner Program eligibility."

Google recommends a more advanced campaign using Google Ads, but the new option offers a convenient tool for smaller scale promotions, specifically for creators and businesses looking to drive traffic from YouTube.

Another tool to add to your arsenal of video marketing strategies.
