This new flagship from Xiaomi is 12T Pro and boasts the world's first 200-megapixel main camera. The manufacturer employs the Samsung HP1 sensor with a base pixel size of 0.64μm and f/1.69 aperture.
The sensor, that was announced late last year, uses pixel binning in different ways: it can combine 16 pixels to produce a 12.5-megapixel image (2.56μm pixel size), combine four pixels to produce a 50-megapixel image (1.28μm pixel) or produce a full 200-megapixel image. Binned 12-megapixel photos on the new iPhone 14 Pro's 48-megapixel camera has a pixel size of 2.44μm.
This primary sensor here introduces features like 2x zoom, night-mode photography, and video recording in up to 8K resolution. Xiaomi claims that it would expect that the sensor would be extremely high on megapixels and churn out images with super crisp details and a range of colors in not just day conditions but also in low-light conditions. Other things however, are size of sensor and company's post-processing algorithms. And, thus, it is not necessarily true that using a 200-megapixel sensor results in better final photos than those taken with sensors of any lesser megapixel count.
The other specs on the 12T Pro are on par with the Android flagships of this year, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 8 GB or 12 GB RAM, 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 3.1, a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED; and the battery is a big 5,000 mAh, which also supports charging with a 120W charger packed in the box.
The new device also boasts a 65% improved cooling system compared to its predecessor, the company claims.

It is equipped with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera, along with a 20-megapixel front-facing camera.
It's not the first instance of a 200-megapixel main camera, since Samsung finished sales for a device called the Edge 30 with the same sensor last month. And if Samsung can do it, then everybody can.
The phone comes in black, silver, and blue colors, starting at €749 ($743) when it hits the shelves on October 13.
