As part of its growing video content push, X is now testing a new feature that will allow users to continue running X videos in sequence, without requiring them to physically swipe to the next clip.
X is exploring a new "Auto Advance" option for video playback, which, as it sounds would automatically advance at the end of each clip to the next video upload in-stream.
Which might make it easier to see X video content in a more "lean-back" experience, where you just turn it on and forget about it. And with X also improving TV connectivity, that would also let you catch up with all the top recommended videos for you, each day, on the biggest screen in your house.
In fact, in April, X released its new Smart TV app that provides additional functionality for the display of video content on X via TV.
All part of X's video first approach to content, which has seen the company drive huge percentage increases in consumption of its vertical video feed, in addition to signing exclusive content deals with a range of broadcasters to maximize user interest.
X's bigger view is that if it can provide more TV-like content, that will enable it to tap into the popularity of video engagement, evident in every other social app, which will then keep more users glued to X.
And a key advantage for the app in this respect could be real-time coverage, and its ever-growing stream of updates from news events.
No other platform matches X's capacity on this front, and thus, Auto Advance could be a good way of enabling X users to catch up on the news of the day, via videos posted to X.
As time goes on, X hopes Grok's AI will more accurately categorize and enable each user to have a more relevant experience. And if that works, being able to activate a continuous flow of personalized video clips is just one means to keep track of the top news stories of the day in your niche.
Well, since other apps allow the same feature, it is only logical that X must catch up with the rest and offer another method of consuming video content within the application.
Auto advance is still not rolled out yet to the public.
