The new creator monetization form tested in partnership with YouTube star MrBeast, who earned more than $250,000 for his first-ever upload to the app, is joined today by X's new "Creator Targeting" ad option, which enables brands to sponsor selected creator content in the app.
Soon, creators on X will be able to receive advertisements against a curated list of premium content creators with the launch of Creator Targeting. This allows advertisers the greater control needed to have access to run ads against the content of their desired creator(s) using the self-serve X Ads Manager.
Therefore, literally, this new alternative shall enable you to target one of the approved video producers in the application through whom you prefer showing your advertisement. Therefore, ads shall be run pre-roll against your choice video creators and thus direct access can be acquired among these authors' app viewership.
Could be a good way of exposure to specific audiences but could also provide new channels toward more extended reach through clips by popular creators.
Although rather limited in that. X hasn't disclosed who is going to be involved with the program, however, the first to use this product was MrBeast and from that case, and from X's note on the "premium" creator inventory, I would take an assumption that only video creators having huge followings are being considered for the new thing.
The program in itself is an extension of X's "Amplify" program for video content sponsorship, which it was introducing way back in 2015 to enable the monetization of video uploads among publishers within the app.
Now that X is pushing even more integration of video content within the app, under its "video first platform" push, it makes sense to push this out further with the creators, and X hopes that this new feature will encourage even more prominent content creators to upload even more of their own stuff into the app at least as a secondary place to go like MrBeast, in turn giving X even more video inventory from which it can draw in order to keep the users hooked.
Well, I won't be expecting $250k as an upload reward, but if payouts are lovely, then this can attract many creators to the app.
X announced its "video-first platform" approach last month, part of its renewed focus on highlighting video creators in order to maximize time spent in the app. Thus far, X has announced a range of exclusive video partnerships, while it is also developing a new video tab in the app to drive more viewership.
All of which adds up to a future where more prominent content creators focus on X, maybe even help fill out some of the gaps in its video offerings, thus increasing its entertainment value.
