X Initiates Live Testing of Video Integration in Spaces

X's new video Spaces option is now in live testing, and some X Premium subscribers are able to launch Spaces chats with video in-stream.
now, when launching a Spaces session, you can flip the "Enable video" toggle in the set-up, which will then open the Spaces window with your own device video active.

That will make another aspect of the conversation in Spaces, with the ability to converse live via video link and, perhaps provide a different kind of context altogether.

Good for the present moment discussing news events-there one can share-a live view of what's happening- or even what's playing on a cable news feed-and then other users might discuss that later in an audio stream. Brands can share new products, production lines, internal insights, etc. and have a Spaces session where fans can engage around such, while industry events can share a stream of what's happening so more people can join in on the discussion.

That will be helpful in a wide variety of ways, and I am curious to know how users respond to those new options in Spaces, and the type of engagements we receive from them.
X owner Elon Musk confirmed last December that video Spaces would be arriving soon, also explaining how video Spaces work with guests.

"We're working on adding video to Spaces so that it'll just be a simple thing where you can turn the video on or off. And then the person who is speaking, the video will switch to them, like a group call or something like that."

So, at least theoretically, all the participants will be able to participate via video link, not only the host.

Of late, spaces have become a much bigger focus for the app, with X reporting it now hosts over 80,000 Spaces chats per day in the app.

Which seems like a lot, but with so many people looking to engage in Spaces (including Musk himself), it makes sense that X would be exploring more ways to facilitate engagement within the option.

Video is a new shift in that regard, and once again, it would be interesting to see how X users react to the change of consideration.
