The conclusion of a significant chapter for the company.
X has officially designated Texas as its new headquarters.

The next phase of Elon Musk’s X initiative has arrived, as X has officially sought legal acknowledgment of Bastrop, Texas, as its new headquarters.

In a court document related to X’s legal battle with former CNN anchor Don Lemon, the company has requested to relocate its head office to Bastrop, which is also home to SpaceX and The Boring Company.

Forbes reports that “last month, X updated several incorporation documents to reflect the Bastrop address, according to exhibits submitted by the company. Musk is seeking to have the litigation in the Lemon lawsuit proceed in Texas.”

This development isn’t surprising.

In July, Musk revealed that X would depart from its longstanding San Francisco headquarters, citing personal disagreements with state law changes concerning gender identification for minors.

Musk also expressed safety concerns about the city, noting that, with 80% fewer employees, X no longer requires such a large office space.

Last month, X notified employees that it would vacate its San Francisco building in the coming weeks, with staff being reassigned to offices in San Jose, Palo Alto, and Texas.

Now, Texas has been officially confirmed as the company's new home base, aligning it more closely with Musk’s other ventures.

The new X headquarters is situated in “Hyperloop Plaza,” a shopping center complex owned by Musk. Additionally, X is currently recruiting for a new safety center in the area, with most staff expected to eventually relocate to the new address.

This marks the end of an era for the company formerly known as Twitter, which had become closely associated with San Francisco as part of the broader Silicon Valley movement. Now, the company is being reoriented according to Musk’s vision, allowing for a stronger connection to his other projects, particularly xAI, which will facilitate the sharing of resources and expertise across his various initiatives.

The external impact of this shift will likely be minimal. X has already made significant changes to its content moderation strategy, greatly altering the app's overall atmosphere. However, having Musk's various enterprises collaborate more closely will benefit their collective growth, as different teams work on various projects across the organizations.

Within the limits set by the board and external regulations, Elon is already sharing hardware among his companies, which has raised some concerns. Still, having all these systems operate more closely together will foster greater collaboration.

However, this move effectively closes the chapter on what Twitter once was. The physical relocation serves as a definitive end to the Twitter narrative, with X now taking over in that space.
