Facebook is making it easier to organize the many messages filling up your inbox. The messaging app announced Thursday that it's adding the ability to filter chats into customizable categories. This helps you track conversations with family members, work colleagues, college friends, and more.
It added the feature called "Custom Lists," a further development of its own chat filters. WhatsApp's earlier update included just three filters: "All," "Unread," and "Groups." With the recent upgrade, you can actually build your own lists. End.
For instance, you can tap the plus sign (+) at the top of the filter bar to create a list. You can give names to your lists and add any person whom you want to add-not only groups but people whom you have a one-on-one chat with. You will need to swipe left to right on your screen side to side in order to view all of your available filters for more lists. Also, long-pressing on a list will allow you to add or remove people or groups to edit it. By default, WhatsApp will still open to the "All" category, showing all messages in chronological order.
Custom Lists begin rolling out today and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
