On the other hand, WhatsApp will be more useful for those who use the app more like an inbox. The app is now going to introduce several new chat filters for WhatsApp so as to easily gain access to certain types of messages: All, Unread and Groups.
The "All" filter is selected by default and will show you an unfiltered version of your inbox. "Unread" filter is useful when you want to look at messages you might not have seen yet. It also helps you get to zero in the inbox and get rid of the annoying number of unread chat indicators.
It's noteworthy that WhatsApp had always offered a way to look at unread messages through a filter in the search bar. Now, however, the option is easily available with the new filter bubbles on top of the chat screen.
Meta said the "Groups" filter would be one of the most frequently requested features with which users would quickly scroll through all their group chats. The filter will also bring conversations in subgroups composed of Communities, WhatsApp's discussion group feature.
Users familiar with the Gmail email service may have seen similar features because Google-owned service introduced this feature back in 2020 to make search easier.
But this might be just the tip of the iceberg. Although multiple reports by WABetaInfo have hinted so, WhatsApp is reportedly working on others like "Contacts" for filtering messages from unknown people and businesses and "Favorites" for marking frequently used contacts, and even even custom chat filters on various beta versions of the app.
WhatsApp has announced that the option to filter messages will be available to the users starting today, and everyone will be able to use it in a few weeks.
