WhatsApp Introduces Voice Note Transcripts Feature

The messenger app WhatsApp announced that it's rolling out voice message transcripts to all users, which means there will be another way to interact with voice messages in the app .
, this means you will be able to switch on automatic voice message transcripts in the app, so you can read on those audio notes people have left for you.

That would help bridge the gap between people who love leaving voice messages and people who hate listening to them, improve accessibility to be able to engage with voice messages in any situation, and once again, improve accessibility.

WhatsApp says that it will generate voice messages transcripts on your phone, "which means that no one—not even WhatsApp—can hear or read them."

Thus, this app ensures that although the messages will be converted into text, its core privacy and security features of WhatsApp remain intact. The choice will also cater to different languages.

According to TechCrunch:

As for languages, on iOS, that depends on your OS. If you have iOS 16+ you can activate an English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, or Arabic transcript. If you have iOS 17+, you are presented with the opportunity to activate a Danish, Finish, Malay, Norwegian, Dutch, Swedish, Hebrew, and Thai transcript. If you have an Android, there's that English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian transcripts.

It could be a handy addition, enabling users to communicate in their own preferred style, with the recipient then able to choose how they then engage with that message.

Of course, there's also the risk that these automatically created transcripts won't be 100 percent accurate. But for the most part, working with automated transcription tools in social apps, you can usually identify places where there might be some errors, so this shouldn't be a huge problem.

Another consideration for your WhatsApp process.

Voice message transcripts will be rolled out globally "over the coming weeks," according to WhatsApp.
