Whats app is upgrading its new chat filters feature, launched in April, and rebranding it as "lists". It will be the functionality from which WhatsApp can filter through all of your chats according to categories to help one stay across a myriad of group individual chats and group discussions that may run along themes like neighborhood groups, sporting chats for the kids, the work colleagues, etc.
That is exactly what Chat Filters was, only now WhatsApp has decided the title for Lists is actually better. The only plus is now you can rename and name your Lists themselves, in place of being filtered in WhatsApp's system.
This, according to WhatsApp:
"With Lists, you can now sort your chats by custom-made categories of your choice. Whether that's a list for family, work or even your local neighborhood, lists help you focus on what's most important, just when you need it. "
So, once more, instead of them coming into the pre-set filter of categories of WhatsApp choosing, with lists, now you can name them with whatever names you prefer to, and add whatever group of chats you want, to them.
So I guess that name change does kind of make sense.
"You can easily create and edit your lists by tapping the + in the filter bar at the top of your Chats tab, or edit by long-pressing a list. You can add both groups and one-on-one chats to a list, and any list you create will appear in the filter bar".
It could be an easier way to manage your various WhatsApp conversations, and keep you up to date in each category, while prioritizing what's most important to you.
WhatsApp's rolling Lists is out to all users today, and it expects the option to be available to everyone "in the coming weeks.".
