WhatsApp can now delete a message for up to two days and 12 hours (60 hours altogether) so that you can actually get an unwanted chat that was accidentally sent hours later.
Earlier, it was 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds — yep, seconds were also included.
The company only said this about the feature in a tweet, just "little over two days.".
???? Changing your mind? Now you'll have a little over 2 days to delete your messages from your chats after you send.
WhatsApp first introduced the unsend feature back in 2017 with just a seven-minute time limit but later increased it to one hour and eight minutes. Last year, WABetaInfo mentioned that the company might take up the seven-day time limit but this time has opted for an odd time frame of two and a half days.
In contrast, rival chat app Telegram has no limit on how long you can unsend a message, allowing one to delete a chat years after it was sent. Apple is headed in the opposite direction; after presenting the feature for iOS 16 at its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June, the company shortened the window from 15 minutes to two minutes within the fourth version of the iOS 16 developer beta last month.
WhatsApp also plans to introduce new privacy features to the app, ranging from blocking screenshots for its newly available "view-once messages" and silent leave of a group.
