Waze is introducing some new features that should make it easier for users to navigate tricky roundabouts, receive alerts that a speed limit is about to change, and be warned of upcoming speed bumps and sharp curves. This Google-owned company is also streamlining discovery of parking information, visualising changes to favourite routes, and alerting users when an emergency vehicle has stopped along their route.

It's all thanks to Waze community contributors; drivers will now get total clarity on when it's time to drive into a roundabout, which lane to take, and which point to come out so they never miss a turn. This feature will particularly come in handy when you're driving along an unfamiliar road or even in a new city. The new feature is rolling out globally to Android users this month and to iOS users later this year.

Alerts start to appear as you get near where the speed limit is changing on the road you're driving. This gives you more time to actually slow down. The new feature can help avoid that ticket, but it's also a good way to ensure that you're following traffic regulations, in case you missed the sign of the actual speed limit. It will roll out to all Android and iOS users worldwide this month.

Already useful for not only giving you warning of potholes, railroad crossings and bad weather, but also including, for example, sharp curves, speed bumps and toll booths, the Waze app will alert you of such hazards while navigating an unfamiliar area like a local, thanks to an update that the company says will help users navigate a new neighborhood as if they were born there. The alerts are going to be rolled out worldwide for Android and iOS in October.

Through a new partnership with Flash, the app will then start showing useful information regarding parking garages, including whether a particular parking garage is covered, wheelchair accessible, and when there are EV charging stations available. Users will be able to book their parking spot directly from the Waze app. The feature goes live in the coming weeks on Android and iOS for over 30,000 parking garages across the U.S. and Canada.

Most people feel the urge to take their favorite route in going to work or school, even if it is not the shortest. Starting next month, the application will start showing you information concerning your favourite routes such as current traffic and delays. This will then allow you to view how your favorite route compares to different ones and then choose one that you feel is the best. The update is rolling out globally this month on Android and iOS.

To keep first responders safe, Waze will now begin to show you when an ambulance or firetruck is stopped along your route. The update is possible by information from the Waze for City partners program and is available now to drivers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and France on Android and iOS, with more countries coming soon.
