TikTok has unveiled its new slate of programming in recognition of Black History Month, which will also include a new class of #BlackTikTok Visionary Voices-showcasing some of the top talent in the app.
TikTok has run its Visionary Voices program for three years, providing the app with the chance to highlight many of its most influential creators.
As TikTok goes on to explain:
"We are excited to continue to amplify Black creatives who are pushing boundaries and inspiring others both on and off the platform. Our 2024 #BlackTikTok Visionary Voices List celebrates Black creators, Business Owners, and Industry Disruptors making a positive impact on TikTok and beyond, using their creativity to celebrate, honor, and shape Black culture and history."
The list of creators will be across categories such as beauty, education, health, fashion, and music. TikTok will highlight their work during the course of the month, but the selected participants will also be featured in a new cinema ad campaign on TikTok with Screenvision.
The company is also running its annual #ShopBlack program through the month, bringing attention to Black-owned SMBs. It's also running some physical events in the U.S.
In the coming weeks, we are hosting the next installment of our Visionary Voices Black Hollywood Brunch in Los Angeles honoring Black creatives in media and entertainment. We are also excited to partner with Paramount Pictures to bring our #BlackTikTok community to Atlanta and Los Angeles for a special advanced screening of the upcoming movie "Bob Marley: One Love", in theaters February 14th.
Some examples are that it is now teaming up with visual performance artist Fabian Williams to create a custom mural in Atlanta to reach their customers outside of the app, and most recently it has partnered once again with Black Girl Ventures to launch its latest grant program for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and content creators within the beauty, lifestyle, and consumer sectors.
The program will award selected participants grants of up to $10,000 and pair business owners with standout creators to help elevate and refine their business's social strategy, helping entrepreneurs craft compelling content that resonates with target audiences.
This is an important initiative to TikTok, considering how much Black creators have dominated, and continue to participate in, the success of the app. They form key trends, and the audiences come to the application. Spotlighting creators will always be a good bet, and TikTok further highlights the unique work coming from the Black community through various initiatives that offer exposure combined with financial support.
