TikTok has announced a slate of activations for the 96th Oscar Awards ceremony, in partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Disney, that will feature both IRL and in-app activations for the event.

Which may also serve as opportunities for film-related tie-ins and discussion as the hype around Oscars night builds.

Two of TikTok's highest-grossing filmmakers will make the trip to the red carpet at the Oscars where they will interview some celebrities that are attending the show.

"On March 10th at 5:00 pm ET / 2:00 pm PT, #FilmTok creators Joe Aragon (@cinema.joe) and Yasmine Sahid (@ladyyasmina1) will bring the TikTok community directly to the Oscars red carpet as they host a LIVE streamed on @tiktok, @oscars, and @abcnetwork in the US.".

That's a huge opportunity for TikTok to let some of the best on its platform expose themselves to a much bigger audience and is sure to generate a lot more attention in the larger #FilmTok space.

The integrations direct from mainstream Oscar's coverage will be seeing quite a lot more film-discussion in the app; as observed already, this would open opportunities for related tie-ins and engagement.

TikTok is also launching an Oscars Search Hub, which will feature all the latest speeches, effects, and voting polls leading up to the night.

"You can also complete fun film-related tasks to receive themed profile frames, and show off your knowledge by posting with #Oscars to get involved in the conversation."
Users can search for "Oscars" to find the in-app activation.

Lastly, TikTok introduced multiple lines of Oscars-themed filters, so users had greater opportunities through which they were to engage in the live ceremony.
