Want to access the newest trends on TikTok?
This will come in handy. TikTok has recently rolled out a new monthly "Trends Digest" series, detailing the latest trends that are picking up steam within the app, along with some additional notes on how you can apply each to your content strategy.
According to TikTok, it has identified its trending list by taking a broader view of what is gaining traction, as opposed to smaller "moments" and fads.
According to TikTok:
"When it comes to defining trends on TikTok, there's a difference between what's trending now and being on-trend: we refer to these as 'Trend Moments' versus 'Trend Signals'. Numerous small Trend Moments make up a larger Trend Signal.". Trend Moments are difficult to pay attention to since the monitoring of trending content requires a pretty high level of reactivity. In contrast, Trend Signals serve as more accessible entry points for brands in staying on trend by creating a good foundation and knowledge of trending content.
So it's more the larger concepts that define these trends, which should bring you a better grounding towards much more relevant creation opposed to trying to latch onto everything else that happens around us.
TikTok further explains that every trend is made up of four key elements which defines the broader topic.
It is those factors combined that will bring in numerous trend clips, which is how TikTok's going to define the focus for its new Trends Digest.
So what's this month's trend of note?
As TikTok puts it:
"Whether it's through carousel slides or conversational videos featuring two characters, the common thread of these videos is how they put powerfully optimistic spins on relatable everyday situations, allowing users to see themselves in the narratives."
It has provided specific pointers on how marketers can tap into the trend and create content that aligns with broader engagement behaviors.
It is an interesting experiment, which can help you better understand the mechanics of TikTok engagement and how each trend could relate to your branding efforts in the app.
According to the application, it will spotlight such a new general trend each month, and what it identifies could become significant aid in your strategy.
