An integration with LTK, which allows users to shop from creator and influencer recommendations, is going live on TikTok, the company said in videos shared with a set of creators that TechCrunch viewed. The partnership may raise the ability of fashion creators to make affiliate commissions through LTK, while also helping consumers understand what exactly they're buying based on the clothes and accessories that creators are discussing.
If you follow fashion creators on TikTok, you probably've heard of LTK, also referred to as LiketoKnow.it and RewardStyle. Now, the app has become a significant part of the fashion industry: it is more or less like Pinterest or Instagram but, unlike those platforms, creators can post what they're wearing and link directly to the websites in question so viewers can buy the items, too.
TikTok and LTK, to me, really revolutionized online shopping because it shares information with a consumer on what they are buying — for example, if you are trying to figure out what size to order, you can search specific items and their sizes on each respective app. And if the brand is popular enough, you may well be able to find a creator modeling the clothes who has a similar body shape to you and thus easier to decide whether or not you want to order the product.
Linking the TikTok and LTK apps only makes that experience smoother and boosts the reputation of TikTok as a shopping app rather than an entertainment destination.
Whenever an account owner uses the new LTK integration, the link to that item on LTK will appear within the comments section. At least for now, this will only come through within the TikTok app.
LTK said the feature is real, was, but was not able to say any more or give more information at this time. Creators in Threads, on the other hand, have been talking about being invited to the program, in addition to videos creators posted in TikTok that were linked back to LTK.
