TikTok Expands Its AR Creator Rewards Program to Additional Regions

To encourage more AR engagements on the application, TikTok has revealed an extension of its Creator Effects Rewards programme which gives cash rewards to effects creators through the Effect House platform.
Launched in six regions six months ago, TikTok is now opening up the program to more creators by expanding it to its users in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
TikTok's is also lowering the threshold for videos required to qualify for entry into the program.

Going forward, according to TikTok:

"Instead of having to create 500,000 videos using their effects as previously necessary, creators now only need to achieve the Gold badge level. That means creators only need to have 5 effects published and at least 3 of their effects used in 1,000 videos for this. "

TikTok's also going to make it easier for creators to earn rewards on individual effects.

"In the old version of the program, creators needed an effect to have been used in 500,000 videos for the effect to begin earning rewards. Now, each effect needs to be used in only 200,000 videos in eligible regions to begin collecting rewards."

TikTok's is also lowering payout thresholds so more creators can get paid more often.

Of course, it is worthy of notice that only US$14,000 can be collected by a single effect, whereas a single creator is going to collect up to US$50,000 per month.

TikTok of course tries to balance usage with respective monetization.

Really nice, as it would spark a lot more interest in creating effects for the platform. And with an expanded pool of creators, so too do your opportunities to tap into the next viral trend, and every viral AR trend drives significant interest and engagement, bringing more people into the app.

Even so, it still arguably leads the way on this front, as it has for some time. But the use of AR is changing fast and may shift soon, now that Apple and Meta are pushing new mixed reality headsets-and working on new AR glasses. Effects and effect creation are set to become a much bigger focus.

It would therefore make sense that, within that, TikTok would logically want to ensure it is updated to the latest trends, and initiatives like this are key to the longer-term viability of the app.
