TikTok is Enhances its subscription options for creators, allowing more users to cultivate a paying subscriber base within the app.
Initially introduced in 2022 for Live creators, TikTok announced at its U.S. creator summit earlier this year that subscriptions would soon be available for non-Live creators as well.
Now, TikTok is making this feature accessible to an even wider range of creators.
According to TikTok:
"Subscriptions enable creators to offer their most engaged followers exclusive perks, unique experiences, and access to a members-only community for a monthly fee. By building on the authentic connections they've already forged through their content, creators can create a dedicated space that fosters deeper engagement."
Eligible creators will have the ability to customize their subscription packages into three pricing tiers, each with benefits tailored to their style.
Creators can provide:
Private Communication Channels: Direct access to various communication options, including Sub Space, chats, comments, and messages, allowing for real-time interaction with subscribers.
Exclusive Content: Special videos, live streams, and notes that are accessible only to subscribers.
Community Identifiers: Unique stickers for use during live sessions and evolving badges next to subscribers’ names on profiles and comments, showcasing the creator's unique community identity.
Customized Perks: A mix of pre-made perks from TikTok—like performance requests, Discord roles, shoutouts, and topics for live streams—as well as tailored perks designed by the creator specifically for their community.
While TikTok is expanding what creators can offer, it also provides guidance to ensure that these subscription packages are both viable and valuable.
However, access to this feature requires a significant presence on the platform. Eligible creators must be 18 or older, maintain an account in good standing, and have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views within the past month.
This initiative primarily targets larger accounts, but it represents a valuable opportunity for TikTok to foster community connections and enhance creator loyalty while offering new revenue streams.
As monetizing short-form video can be challenging, TikTok recognizes the need for more monetization options to keep creators active on the platform.
The expanded subscription offering will be rolled out to eligible creators in select regions over the coming weeks.
