Threads is also currently working on a new option that would enable you to switch profiles within the post composer, so you could more easily post from a connected account.

This would be useful for social media managers who have a connected business handle, receiving inspiration for a brand post at the moment or to those who have secondary, topic-focused profile, and from where they want to share breaking news.

Of course, it wouldn't be a major functional upgrade because Threads had enabled in-stream profile switching since last September. Actually, switching between connected accounts is quite easy: you just double tap on the profile image at the bottom right of the main UI, so you can already post from another account without much hassle in the app.

But it may make it a bit easier to re-share posts quickly, without having to switch profiles, then locate the post that you want to share, then compose a new update, etc.

It's very slickly executed in Threads, too, where linking a secondary account once gets you easy access to the secondary profile within the app. The hazard here is that you accidentally post from the wrong account-but that's a price to pay for the added convenience of posting from multiple accounts inside the app.

Therefore, such an update wouldn't be a change in functionality per se but a convenient posting option to help maintain activity on the app.

And undoubtedly, Threads wants to make people keep posting.

For example, only one-fifth of Twitter-now X-ever post anything at all, while 80% of those logged in ever just read posts. Threads, presumably, is much the same, which means that it really needs that small number of active posters to keep uploading content, in order to maintain activity and engagement.

Therefore it makes sense to provide more ways to maximize posting.

The option is being tested, but no statement has been given on a live test/roll-out as yet.
