Some weeks after rolling out trending topics in the United States, Threads is now testing the feature in Japan.
"Lots of people outside the US have asked for "Trending Now," and we are working to expand the feature into more countries. This week, we'll start testing in Japan with a small number of users," said Adam Mosseri, Meta executive overseeing Instagram and Threads.
Meta said that the Trending Now feature fetches the conversation in real-time but didn't mention if it filters the political content from this feature section.
Though the social network claims not to have active recommendations for political content, the feature often raises up political topics because of the nature of the conversations on the platform.
