Twitter rival Threads finally adds feature to switch between multiple accounts without needing to log out.

The Meta-owned social networking app on Thursday announced that users can switch accounts on its mobile apps with a long-press on the profile icon in the bottom right. Users can tap on the "Add profile" option following the long press to add a new profile.

This makes it easier for users to switch between work and personal profiles. Instagram head Adam Mosseri did not say whether there was a limit on the number of accounts you can add to the profile-switching feature.

Interestingly, the text-based social networking app's profile feature was announced on the same day as Facebook enabled people to have multiple personal profiles on the Blue app.

Three months after its launch, Threads is chugging along with new releases of features. It started testing full-text search features late last month in New Zealand and Australia. The company released the search functionality worldwide earlier this month.

In September, features like turning on notifications for 24 hours for a specific post, as well as the ability to quote posts on the web, were rolled out.

Threads' rivals are also churning out features in a competitive social media space. Last week, Mastodon released version 4.2 with new search for profiles and posts, automatic quick action suggestions in the search box, a new web interface with better thread indicators and article previews and a new Privacy and Reach settings tab.
