As TikTok begins its legal defense against its enforced sell-off in the U.S.-a measure it claims will ultimately result in removing the app from the region-support for the TikTok sell-off is, over time, beginning to dwindle as the actual end date draws near.
Noted opponents of the TikTok bill include Presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has vowed to "save TikTok" if he wins the November poll.
But perhaps that's just what is fueling this new wave, but as you can see in the below visualization created by Visual Capitalist, overall support for the push to sell off has plummeted dramatically since it was first proposed last March.
Will that set a new course of action from the U.S. regulators? I would say this is unlikely, given the current state of play. It's, however, interesting to see how Americans, left and right, have flipped on the app.
Maybe the U.S. Government needs to release more information on the actual threat posed by the app and how U.S. users are impacted by such.
