Snapchat introduces YouTube link stickers to improve video sharing on the platform.

Since it was enabling users to add tweets directly into their Snapchat snaps late last year, Snapchat is now finally adding a new sharing option, with the addition that users can now share YouTube videos with friends, direct from the Snapchat Camera.
now, Snapchat users will simply be able to tap the Snapchat icon when sharing from YouTube to then add that YouTube link as a sticker in their Story.

Said Snapchat:

"With this new integration, we're making it easier than ever for viewers to send their favorite clips and videos right where they're already talking with friends on Snapchat. This is the first time YouTube links can be shared visually to Snapchat Stories and one-on-one Snaps, while still accessing the Camera and full suite of Snapchat Creative Tools for self expression.".

This opens up yet another entire class of creative link-sharing options for YouTube, which will enhance both YouTube-with increased referral traffic-and Snap by adding depth to your options for expression and engagement around Snap.

It's a pretty good way of encouraging more active sharing in that the display sticker presents a more integrated, direct-sharing process-that is, rather than sending a link in your Snap messages.

It makes a lot of sense and, for brands, could facilitate some new ways to drive traffic to your longer YouTube videos while also letting you share tutorials, product overview videos, and so much more via your Snaps.

It's also kind of interesting to see YouTube and Snap sort of cooperating. I guess they aren't actually competitors per se, but still, the expansion of Snap Discover at least does create some small threat to YouTube's video supremacy online.

But then, probably, links work better for YouTube either way, and just makes sense for them to be this organic extension of the kinds of links that exist on Snap.

To post a YouTube clip to Snap:

Open the YouTube app and select a video to view
Tap "Share," then tap the "Snapchat" icon to snap automatically into the Snapchat Camera
From there, they can create an imaginative Snap using the automated YouTube sticker and layer on with any of our creative tools
All of their friends just have to tap the YouTube Sticker in order to view the video within their YouTube app or default mobile browser
