Sci-fi becomes reality as two individuals exchange messages while they sleep for the first time.

Researchers at California-based startup REMspace made the impossible possible when they managed to allow two people to exchange messages in a lucid dream-that is, a condition wherein an individual becomes conscious of the fact that they are dreaming.
Scientists successfully allowed participants to exchange messages through a special setup and unique language referred to as "Remmyo," which they used during the sleep experiment.
This research, which began years ago, joins together the world of dream communication, and the implications go far across commercial and scientific reaches.

On September 24, an experiment was witnessed when two volunteers in separate places entered lucid dreams while their brain activity was remotely monitored.

On this day, the first volunteer received a random word through earbuds, repeated it in the dream, and the message was captured. Eight minutes later, the second volunteer entered a lucid dream, received the message, and confirmed it once they woke up.
It marked the first "chat" ever exchanged through lucid dreams.

On this breakthrough, Michael Raduga, CEO of REMspace and its founder, said: "Now, yesterday dreamed to have the ability to communicate in a dream - as in science fiction.
Tomorrow, it will be so habitual that no one can even imagine any other existence.
According to Michael Raduga, tomorrow's industry to be a giant of the future shall be a real-time communication in lucid dreams, as well as competitor for artificial intelligence in terms of scope and application.".

"We think that REM sleep and lucid dreaming will change our ways of thinking about communication and interaction," he said.
