Pinterest Reveals New Initiatives for the Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival is just next month, and Pinterest has been named an official media partner of the event, hosting a variety of TIFF-themed content on the app to encourage user engagement for the iconic event.

This is TIFF's first presentation on Pinterest, and the main attraction there is a new "Filmspiration Hub" that will house insider scoops and info on films, celebrities, fashion, etc. Behind-the-scenes and best-of festival content will also live in this dedicated space.
In its own words, Pinterest:

This hub will be a unique edit and creator-led mix of editorial and creator-led content – a visual repository of all things TIFF. Content will range from film line-ups, interview clips, fan content, red carpet looks, images from the TIFF Portrait Studio, and much more. As the home of inspiration, Pinterest will also house exclusive soundbites from celebrities visiting TIFF's official interview suite, Studio 9, around "what inspires them."

The hub will appear in the app's search tab for users of the U.S., Canadian, U.K., and Australian apps during the event, in harmony with the broader focus on discovery.

Additionally, Pinterest is teaming up with creators throughout the festival, who will be posting their own exclusive TIFF content. Creators participating are the lifestyle creator Lil Gabi D and fashion influencers Fred Anyona and Sonakshi, each of whom will look to showcase how films have inspired their respective approaches.

It is a very interesting partnership, especially considering it from the angle of Pinterest, which is to show how filmmakers use it to come up with inspiration and how the latter cuts out a new fashion trend.

The inspiration search engine" that has been around longer than the concept of an inspiration search engine, Pinterest has inspired countless film directors, costumers, and writers who are actively using the platform for some of pop culture's biggest moments. Like the writers of the Netflix hit Stranger Things, who storyboarded the whole series on Pinterest, actress and director Elizabeth Banks found inspiration on Pinterest in the reimagination of a new generation of Charlie's Angels.

That's a great angle, which can be successful in underlining the importance of the platform as a discover and inspiration app and encourage even more movie lovers to participate through Pin.

Between September 7th and 17th, users of Pinterest will find the Filmspiration Hub on the search landing page of Pinterest, and the posts will update every day during the course of the event.
