Pinterest has come out with some new stats on the app about wedding-related searches and key trends with which users are warming up to.
Weddings, after all, is a huge focus on the app. According to Pinterest, over 10 billion wedding ideas were saved by the pinners last year alone. Many even use it to map out ideas with their wedding planners.
So what's trending in nuptials?
To start with, Pinterest referenced the ever-ascending low-key weddings:
Here, the low-key wedding trend is on the rise, as Pinners appear to be moving away from the over-the-top expensive weddings to concentrate more on quality time with loved ones and great guest experiences. Trending venues show that they are planning intimate weddings in cozy natural environments.
I mean, this trend is probably not a surprise in regards to broader economic conditions, but it may help in your pitches around some wedding themes.
Pinterest reports that topics like "fairy garden wedding dress" have seen a 155 percent increase in search interest, and "forest fairy wedding dress" has also seen a big jump in interest (+690%)
Other search terms that are aiding in this trend are "small backyard wedding reception" (+300%), "civil ceremony" (+210%), "small forest wedding" (+170%) and "Rural wedding" (+230%). Vintage weddings are also on the upswing, according to Pinterest.
"It seems that some couples are drawn to the old-fashioned feel and romance of yesteryear, plus the traditionalism and sophistication that accompanies it. Some couples even choose to use antique artifacts, such as vintage rings, adding an emotional value to it. "
Search terms indicating this trend are "70s wedding dress vintage" (+420%), "Victorian wedding dress vintage (+170%), and "Vintage lace wedding dress" (+200%).
According to Pinterest, Gen Z are looking for more colorful wedding events, and "goth glamor" has also been another trend of interest found on the platform.
This is useful information for wedding-related businesses, but the data also illuminates the role that Pinterest plays for its users in planning looks and themes for various events.
That could be an area of interest for your business, and it could be something to tinker with Pinterest Trends to see what's hot and determining if that means your business should pay more attention to the service.
Pinterest now reaches 498 million monthly active users- and the overwhelming majority of them come to the site intending to shop.
Worth a glance.
