Pinterest Reveals Holiday Gift Trend Insights from Increasing Pin Search Volume.

Hot on the heels of the holiday shopping season, Pinterest is looking to guide your holiday shopping with a little new insight into the most rapidly rising trends in what people are searching for as gift ideas on its app-this includes fashion, beauty, and gadget searches that are gaining momentum inside the app.

The big focus for Pinterest, of course, is fashion and beauty, and the data shows that 'fairy grunge' is this year's thing.

"Gen Z is all about aesthetics - Trending aesthetics among Gen Z for the holiday are fairy grunge (362x), which features whimsical touches like beaded necklaces and gothic styles."

So, what does 'fairy grunge' mean, exactly?

Black platform boots are trending on Pinterest, it reports, while searches for 'Goblincore sweatshirt' are also on the way up.

Pinterest reports gains for searches for 'cozy sweater vest' and for 'silky roomwear'.
It's starting to look like the WFH trend is breaking into mainstream fashion-or at least people are looking to get even cozier around the house.

Gen X, meanwhile, is eyeing more high-end fashion products, with searches for 'luxury handbags' being up 4x on normal volume and 'Men's luxury watches' seeing 3x more interest.
Why anyone is buying a luxury watch is beyond me, considering the functionality of the Apple Watch and related devices and the coming next gen of smart watches that will have even more features. But as a flex, sure, some of these do look impressive.

Baby Boomers are looking for 'faux leather skirts' and 'antique gold jewelry.
So that's something.

Beauty trends that are now trending with younger consumers include retro 70's make-up (39x), while Millennials look to 'soft glam' (41x) for make-up inspiration.

Beard styles for men are also on the up (3x)

'Minimalist décor' is the key trend of note among Gen X, while Boomers are looking to 'eclectic but vintage styles' for their interior design inspo.

Lastly, on tech gadgets – Pinterest says that interest in tech products is up 45% overall, with 'cool gaming rooms' and 'house gadgets' among the key risers.
These are some interesting notes, and considering that Pinterest focuses on product discovery and shopping, these trends would largely be indicative of broader consumer interests, which could help to inspire your holiday marketing initiatives.

That amounts to 444 million active users, and Pinterest itself drives a significant amount of product discovery and purchase activity, which bodes well, considering your products fall into these key niches and trends.
