For a while now, Pinterest has been experimenting and testing its very own version of Stories. As the company continues to grow its content discovery products, the team just announced its latest update: Story Pins following streams.
When we hear "Stories" that relate to social networks, we immediately recall that content as having a life span of 24 hours. However, on Pinterest, the meaning for "Stories" is rather different. Story Pins are saveable, actionable, and long-lasting, so content can be discovered and revisited over time.
"As the home of inspiration, Pinterest is a place to discover not only great ideas but also the people behind them.".
Available on iOS and Android, streams of Story Pins enables users to view much more personalized content from the accounts they choose to follow. In turn, this opens up a new avenue for marketers to show the content they want at the top of the home feed, share their personality, and connect more intimately with a Pinterest following.
The format is unique given its extended life span, but that's not all. Stories look the same as a pin when interacted with. Creators can add much context to their stories in the caption and interact with their community in the comments section.
Take a glance at how people already use pins to share inspiring, informative, and engaging content.
Here are just a few creatives that Pinterest has highlighted. Be sure to check out their story content for fantastic examples of how this new format can be used:
