Are people still really excited about iOS home screen widgets that big spike in interest from all those months ago when iOS 14 dropped in September?
Yep, says Pinterest - with that in mind, it's launching a new iOS widget called 'Interests', which will highlight new pins in a users' chosen topic of focus right on their device's home screen. Here's how Pinterest describes it:
In this regard, today, we are launching the third widget available for iOS, "Interests," allowing users to select their top interests and have new content pushed to them each day right on their home screen."
From the screenshot above, users can configure the Interests widget by picking from the following categories:
Beauty
Home Decor
Food
Men's & Women's Fashion
Quotes
That should help revive the category with new Pin content, which may then attract more users to come back to the app.
Pinterest first rolled out its widget in October, which allows Pinners to include a board of their own or one they follow as part of their home layout.
It further adds that more than two million Pinners have added that widget to their home screen, which has helped in keeping Pinterest top of mind, and drove return visits to the app.
With all this, it makes all the sense that Pinterest would try that again, and new app puts a more considerable emphasis on broader discovery, which could subsequently increase the shopping behaviors.
Today, with 459 million users, and counting, Pinterest is obviously getting something right in its efforts to drive maximum engagement.
