Pinterest is announcing a new lineup of programming for Pride Month, which includes dedicated live streams, shopping spotlights, and even a new partnership with RuPaul's Drag Race winner Sasha Colby.
Colby will share exclusive content, including a curated board of beauty tips and advice. Colby, being a long-time Pinterest user, will also use the opportunity to highlight how the platform can empower positivity and expression for all users.
Additionally, the company is partnering with Tastemade to create a slate of new video series that will feature LGBTQ+ creators, businesses, and even famous drag artists, among others.
Pinterest will also run several themed promotions in-app.
During Pride Month, Pinterest will highlight several LGBTQIA+ creators on Today's inspiration. People will discover ideas on self-expression, wellness, travel for the LGBTQIA+ and much more. Pinners will discover LGBTQIA+ brands' products through Shopping Spotlights on Pinterest in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany, France, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Italy.
According to Pinterest, user interest in gender expression and queer fashion and beauty is on the rise, with searches for such terms as 'understanding gender' (+550%), 'non-binary outfits' (+355%), and 'non-binary haircuts long' (+405%) all gaining more significant traction in recent months.
Because Pinterest wants to be a home for positivity and inclusivity, it is necessary for it to focus and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and these creators - which may also help the brands on Pinterest connect with users through themed tie-in promotions.
