Pinterest has announced a new 'Pinterest Creators Festival', including keynote speakers - expert advice and tips on building an effective Pin presence.
As defined by Pinterest:
"Over 400M people come to Pinterest every month for ideas and inspiration. That's where creators like you come in. The content you share gets saved, tried and remixed by people searching for it. That's the magic of Pinterest. So let's get down to building - together. We're hosting an event focused on growing online communities, telling captivating stories and turning ideas into businesses."
The Pinterest Creator Festival will feature internal experts, as well as seasoned Pinterest marketers like author Elaine Welteroth, Jaime Schmidt of Schmidt's Naturals, Erica Chan Coffman of HonestlyWTF, and representatives from video platform Vimeo.
Pinterest recently announced a new partnership with Vimeo to simplify Pin video creation via Vimeo Create, which could very well be worth exploring given the announcement Pinterest has made that it favors video content. So if you are looking to maximize your Pin presence, video should certainly be on your radar.
In conjunction with this event, Pinterest is introducing the new initiative "Make the World Make", which emphasizes top creators and engages the community in supporting it so that the internet is once again "filled with as many courageous, thrilling and immediate ideas as we can".
We hope that every person looking at this new work, trying a new Story Pin, or joining our festival will seize this diem. And every diem henceforth. For there is an enormous audience there, awaiting compelling ideas-for what to make for dinner, to make a plan, or to make your life better-and they might find yours. You just have to make it.
In other words, the language may be a little dodgy, but generally speaking the point of Pinterest is to be ringing out positivity and creativity, and if that's not a winning ticket for the present day, I'd be surprised.
As such, Pinterest's Creator Festival may well be worth your time - and if you're a marketer looking to find new ways of trying to get a better handle on what makes Pinterest tick, it's worth considering.
