OpenAI has an Orion within the company-its next frontier AI model-whose release to the public could come as early as this year, according to The Verge, which broke the story Thursday. According to the report, the difference is that this time around, the company would then roll it out gradually to its trusted partners before letting everyone else know about it through ChatGPT.
When reached for comments, an OpenAI spokesperson denied the report without giving further detail.

Microsoft engineers, The Verge says, will be able to gain access to the model as soon as November, though it's not clear what the OpenAI company will actually call the model. The models in the o1 series were codenamed "strawberry" internally at OpenAI for months before they came out.

All hope rides into the next frontier model by OpenAI as investors expect much from the AI startup, particularly after it sought $6.6 billion in funding at a valuation of $157 billion.
