One of the popular AI chatbot services, ChatGPT, suffered multiple outages during the course of the day. According to OpenAI, the service has been suffering problems for hours and was thus not available to users for several hours.
The California-based company says that it started working on this issue at 12:21 AM PDT yesterday, June 4. According to the company's service status tracker, OpenAI fixed the said issue at 04.19 AM PT.
However, after that update, the company announced it was investigating another outage at 07.33 AM PT. OpenAI posted an update at 10.17 AM PDT saying that all of its systems were operating.
Open said the problem was because of "a major outage affecting all users on all plans of ChatGPT. The impact was all ChatGPT-related services. This did not include platform.openai.com or the API. This incident started 4th June at 2:15 PM GMT and was resolved 4th June at 5:01 PM GMT," Open.AI wrote in a somewhat vague notice.
The service had disruptions for most users worldwide in the early hours of the day Pacific time. Many users have posted about the problem on X and Threads.
ChatGPT has over 100 million weekly users, OpenAI said.
There have been some partial outages of ChatGPT users in the last 30 days. The most important incident is when, last month, users could not access web results due to the outage of the Bing API.
