Such a sad day it was when the Japanese game developer Nintendo had announced its free mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will soon go out of the service. The app would end service on November 28 but is also given a renaissance. For this time, though, it's going to become a paid game.
On December 3, Nintendo will launch the paid version of the application Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. The application includes almost all of the mechanics, but new ones for just $10.
Many others have been the Nintendo effort to bring its most successful titles to mobile, for mixed success, in previous years. While Pokémon Go, a collab with Niantic, stays popular, other big-IP games, such as Mario, did not cut it.
According to Nintendo's explanation on a 12-minute YouTube video, the Pocket Camp Complete features include the possibility of wandering around the island with your favorite villager and the "Camper Cards" that you can customize and trade with friends via QR codes.
Players also get a new mountain location, Whistle Pass, where friends can meet and gift items to each other. There, they enjoy daily performances by K.K. Slider every night at 7 p.m.
Complete will give the option for players to play completely offline, requiring no active internet connection. Because the app no longer needs a connection, however, users are no longer able to play directly with friends online and therefore are unable to use the Market Box to purchase or sell items.
Nintendo is ending its other two features as well-premium currency, known as "Leaf Tickets," along with Pocket Camp Club subscription-the paid subscription service that each month runs. Complete takes "Leaf Tokens," of which one earns by exchanging Bells or completing various tasks.
However, some of Pocket Camp Club features find themselves in the new app such as the "Merry Memories," which gives a user design and sticker reward for the planner based on seasonal events; Happy Helper, in which the user designates a villager in charge of gathering items. The new Furniture & Fashion saves lots of designs for layouts and several outfits.
Moreover, experienced players will be able to transfer all their data into the new version, so they will retain all Bells and items besides their level that they attained. Some information will not be transferred, however. For instance, Leaf Tickets won't be, so we recommend using those before Nintendo deletes the app.
The thing is, complete will cost just $10 until January 31st, 2025. After that, Nintendo jacks the price to a whopping $20 for any mobile game. It's currently available for pre-order via Google Play Store and App Store.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was launched in 2017 and has been downloaded 15 million times within its first six days of availability. Although it is sad that Nintendo now charges for a game that was once free, we are still excited to try out the new version. Even if it is priced way higher than we hoped.
