This, Netflix said on Tuesday. Also ready to roll onto the popular streaming service: a strategy battle game based on all things LEGO and entitled to the name of a kind, called LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed, as well as a puzzle adventure in Paper Trail.
The new version of the popular game, in which players feed candy to a creature by cutting strands of rope named Om Nom, is called Cut the Rope Daily. The company also announced its second title, The Queen's Gambit: Chess — that was promised last year.
The Queen's Gambit: Chess and Cut the Rope Daily will launch on July 25 and August 1. These games will only appear on mobile and exclusively are accessible to Netflix subscribers.
LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed is actually the game developed and published by Gameloft in 2020. It has to be one of the more important acquisitions Netflix can add to its gaming library as LEGO is arguably one of the largest players in the toy companies of the world. The streamer apparently hasn't been able to get its huge subscriber base to play mobile games, hence probably the reason for continually adding well-known titles to its library.
In the nostalgic game, the player collects classic and modern LEGO minifigures, builds sets, visits different maps, and completes quests with turn-based battles. The minifigures include Chicken Suit Guy, Hot Dog Man, Pirate Princess Argenta, Santa and Ghostbusters, and many others.
There has not been any word from Netflix about when LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed will go live on their streaming application. But come launch date, the game will be unavailable for anyone to freely play since it will be available only to Netflix subscribers.
Earlier this year, the game developer Gameloft told players that LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed would not be able to download further on mobile and PC starting February 28 and the game was pulled from the Google Play, App Store, Microsoft Store, Samsung Galaxy Store, and Amazon Appstore. The game officially went dark on April 28 on these servers. While currently accessible via Facebook's gaming platform online, it will be inoperable at the close of 2023.
Paper Trail is to be a new, untold game in which players are placed in a paper world, folding pages and merging paths into advancement through the game. The game follows Paige, who leaves her home for the first time; players must solve puzzles to help her through the journey.
No launch date is announced by Netflix, but it will only be coming to mobile for subscribers. The game is also coming sometime this August for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, PC, and Xbox.
Called The Queen's Gambit: Chess game, it will be linked to Netflix's hit series, in which Anya Taylor-Joy plays Beth Harmon, a chess player who strives to become the world's greatest player. Next month, subscribers to Netflix will be able to play chess while being Beth, solve puzzles, and compete against friends in matches.
The game pays homage to the show itself because it contains familiarly located places and characters such as Beth's house, the Methuen orphanage, the Las Vegas tournament, Mr. Shaibel, Borgov, and many more.
Netflix has unveiled games based on some of its popular shows, including 'The Queen's Gambit,' 'Shadow and Bone' and more.
This summer, Netflix will launch a new version of the game where one puzzle can be accessed per day instead of all having to appear simultaneously. In this twist of the old one, players still face cutting rope, picking stars, popping balloons, among other challenges.
As previously announced, Netflix will also release the adventure game Oxenfree II: Lost Signals on 12 July. The game takes place five years after the first Oxenfree game—a supernatural thriller about a group of friends who accidentally disturb a mysterious, dimensional rift inside a haunted cave. Both games were developed by Night School Studio, which Netflix acquired in 2021.
A press release Tuesday said that the new title, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, marks the first new title to be released from one of Netflix's internal studios.
The game features all-new characters and storylines and follows an environmental researcher named Riley Poverly, who investigates unnaturally occurring radio frequency signals in her hometown, according to Netflix.
Exclusive to subscribers on mobile, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Mac via Steam.
