Microsoft said on Thursday that it is adding a new theme-creation ability to Outlook-one that uses generative AI to create themes based on personal tastes.
The AI-powered themes are available to consumers who have a Copilot Pro consumer subscription and also to users of business accounts with Copilot enabled. They are available on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and the web.
With Themes by Copilot, you can create a theme inspired by more than 100 locations or a theme based on your location. You can choose whether the theme will update automatically every few hours, daily, weekly, or monthly.
Once generated, you can view your theme in a realistic, oil painting, or cartoon style.
If you've enabled location permissions in Outlook, then the My Location theme will give you imagery uniquely inspired by your locale, dynamically updated for you as you head out the door on a trip or vacation," Microsoft wrote in the blog post. Likewise, a dynamic theme based on the weather would be updated to reflect the current weather conditions where you are.
Customers will also be able to access the themes from AI on the Outlook Appearance Settings.
The company claims that the new feature will enable users to personalize email, just like they would rig their desk with candles or some form of artwork.
Even though this new AI power doesn't bring any particular new functionality, it is indeed a fun way to personalize your email app. Microsoft and Google alike have been working tirelessly to bring the biggest AI-powered productivity features to your email services, but Gmail does not now use AI for themes like Chrome does-that merely leaves Outlook users with some extra free time to get creative.
A day after it brought AI-powered features to Notepad and Paint, on Thursday, Microsoft announced it is now offering Windows Insiders a "Rewrite" tool. The feature will enable the users to get their sentences rephrased, the tone of what they have written changed, and, indeed, all other elements of content length modified-all thanks to artificial intelligence.
For Paint, Windows Insiders will begin to get new AI powered features for image edits and creations using text prompts. It includes Generative fill as the name suggests, which would let users creatively edit and add stuff to their artworks. This feature allows them to erase unwanted objects from their artwork using Generative erase.
Microsoft is previewing the two features in Windows 11 in the U.S., France, the U.K., Canada, Italy, and Germany.
