According to Upload VR, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are reportedly the single best-selling product in 60% of all Ray-Ban stores in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The news was based on EssilorLuxottica CFO Stefano Grassi, who spoke during the eyewear giant's earnings call last week, reporting that Ray-Ban Meta was one of the major sales drivers for the company.
Meta hasn't yet rolled out its multimodal AI features on its Ray-Ban smart glasses in Europe due to a lack of clarity from regulators in the EU. "We are committed to bringing all of our Meta AI features to Europe at some point," the company says. In the meantime, the lack of AI features doesn't seem to be affecting Ray-Ban Meta sales in the region. Some consumers might indeed prefer the speakers and cameras on those glasses more than the AI powers behind them.
Be that as it may, Ray-Ban Meta glasses are doing better now than Meta ever thought was possible. The early success probably inspired Meta to expand its partnership deal with EssilorLuxottica into the following decade.
