It's not new, of course-it's been rolling the feature out to some regions over the past couple of months-but Meta has now confirmed that the new feature of all users obtaining the Link History archive is on its way-for both Android and iOS but not desktop yet.
According to the pop-up, Link History will make it easy for you to find links that you have interacted with within the app.
According to Facebook:
"You can turn link history on at any time. When link history is on, any links that you've tapped inside of Facebook and visited in Facebook's Mobile Browser will be saved here for 30 days."
Facebook also states that whatever private links you opened within Messenger are not saved to link history and you can also delete links from your history at any given time.
It might be a nice feature to find that something that you saw on Facebook one time but can't remember what it was, though you also have "Recent Ad Activity" in the app, that shows ads you've engaged with. So maybe not a game changer, per se, but it gives another way to track your Facebook activity.
And for Facebook, it also adds another mechanism of monitoring your interests.
From the screenshot above, Meta might also use this Link History information to show you more relevant ads in the app.
Which is a price that most users are accustomed to by now, but it is worth noting that this listing could influence the ads you're being shown. So if you don't like the ads you're seeing, visit your "Ad Preferences," then also delete any links to things that may be skewing your targeting.
Meta has not indicated when this feature, the Link History Archive, will become available for all regions, but in general, the rollout of this feature is in progress for all mobile users.
