Meta is expanding its AI chatbot Meta AI to six countries today, including Brazil, the U.K., the Philippines, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Paraguay, Mark Zuckerberg said today in an announcement on his WhatsApp channel.
The company also stated that apart from these countries, Meta AI will be availed for more countries in phases, including the Middle East. After this phase, Meta AI will reach up to 43 countries and over a dozen languages.
Regions to include in the rollouts are Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Yemen. Additionally, Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese languages will be rolled out to be supported by Meta AI during this release cycle.
The AI assistant is available on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger apps, and on the Meta.ai website.
He even told the Meta Connect last month that Meta AI now has nearly 500 million users worldwide. "The chatbot is on track to become the most used assistant in the world by the end of the year," Zuckerberg further said.
In the Q2 2024 call, Meta's CFO Susan Li said India is the biggest market for Meta AI, mostly because of WhatsApp, with more than 500 million users in the country.
Last month, the company added features, which among others came with new celebrity voices and lip-synced translations inside Meta AI. The company has also extended its generative AI-powered "Imagine" feature across Facebook, Instagram and Messenger to create photos using natural language prompts. Moreover, Meta AI can now understand your photos and give you answers about them and even edit them.
