Messenger Now Allows Users to Create Shared Albums, Send HD Photos, and Share Larger Files.

Meta announced on Tuesday that it's rolling out the ability for Messenger users to create shared albums in chats, send photos in high-definition, and share larger files up to 100MB in size. Messenger, by these features, aims at the people who very often send shared albums or share HD images through services like Google Drive.

Until now, there had been no option to view a list of photos shared in a specific Messenger chat, and they could not be grouped or organized in any manner. With this update, users can create photo and video albums in group chats - perhaps to organize photos from the recent spring break or grandma's 80th birthday celebration. If you want to make an album in a group conversation, tap "composer" on your mobile application and select several images before choosing the "create album" option. Alternatively, you can also create an album through long-pressing a photo in a discussion. Photos can be added to an existing album by clicking the "Add to album" option.

A person in the chat can see, add, remove, and download photos and videos to an album. You can locate an album by tapping the "Media" button on a chat.

Launch of shared albums might be useful to users as the feature is not available on Meta's other messaging services-WA and Instagram DMs.

A new HD photo-sharing feature allows users to switch on an "HD" option after choosing an image from the chat composer. You may tap on additional photos to share multiple photos in HD. The new feature is being rolled out by Meta weeks after the company released support for HD photos on WhatsApp in September 2023.

Email is also now available as a substitute for large file transfer, with messenger allowing users to send Word, PDF, Excel, and zip files directly into chats. It does this by letting users tap the + button in a chat and then select a file on their device.

Also new today is the option to link with others via a QR code scan-no more typing in a name or number to start chatting on the app.
All Messenger users will see these features roll out on mobile.
