Giving people the option to share Collections on their profile may reveal more of what kind of people they are.
Then, the public collections option via your IG profile will then be available to view to anyone visiting the app.
This could be another effective means of showing some of your major interests, like celebrities or books or movies, that would indicate to the visitor whether or not they need to hit "Follow.".
It is an extension of the collaborative Collections feature that IG launched back in March, which enables users to kick off a private discussion based on a post, with any chat user can then able to add posts to the display.
It is intended to boost more conversation engagement, working off posts to seed new discussions off of, similar to the new experiment but more about the person and not as much the chat.
Though not ready for launch.
Instagram has been working on the feature since September. Paluzzi also shared examples of how the actual process works:.
It appears that IG is still working on the feature, but it could be another avenue for more connections among like-minded users.
It's an interesting experiment, either way. And for brands (if it makes it to brand profiles), it could be another showcase of your products.
Then again, it could also feel a little cluttered, which is something that Instagram has been working to avoid.
Of course, we'll soon know if and when Instagram is publicizing its new profile feature called Collections.
