Now, Instagram will allow adding song lyrics on Reels, where you already do with Stories-so another one of the music engagement options in the app.
Now, having added a music clip to your Reel, you now have the option of choosing lyrics. You will create the onscreen text of lyrics that you'll wish to include, and you can select which font you prefer, underline where it's all appropriately underlined, and create an even more particular message element for your clip.
Music is a core part of the growth of TikTok, and with the platform now looking to expand its links to the music industry, through a new partnership with Billboard on a TikTok trending chart and even its own live music event.
In light of this, it's little surprise to see Instagram also look to tap into the same, although it doesn't really seem like a major functional update within the broader Reels experience.
However, Instagram claims that users are already uploading song lyrics into the Reels clips, so it might be reasonable for IG to make this easier.
The new lyrics sticker will start rolling out today to all Instagram users.
