Instagram Confirms That Profile Notes Will Be Available to All Users.

A fresh approach to encourage greater engagement with Notes.
Instagram Confirms That Profile Notes Will Be Available to All Users.

Instagram confirmed that it will display Notes on users' profiles, providing another way to use the conversation-spurring feature of Notes to drive more engagement.
Other than using Notes to comment on photos, the social network's profile Notes are another way for users to share what they're up to or what's on their mind, while connections can leave Notes on friends' profiles to prompt interaction.

The notes on profiles have been in testing for some time, and I found a similar image of the functionality shared by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi last December.
Instagram appears to have taken the direction from this initial experiment, where according to IG notes on a profile would be displayed only for 24 hours. Conceptually, it will offer another form for making a conversation inside the application because friends can send messages that you can read while users themselves can express themselves and show their Notes on their own presence.

It published the update in its new "Double-Tap" newsletter, which will provide updates on new features and experiments in the app.
In addition to profile notes, Instagram confirmed it is rolling out its new "Cut Out" sticker option that lets users cut out stickers from entities within photos and videos to all users, and it is also bringing prompts for Notes to all users as well.

And while you may not think much of them, Notes have been a big winner in a key audience segment in the app, with teen users around 10x more likely to create a Note in the app, versus everyone else.

Given that TikTok has eaten into IG's young audience appeal, that's an important step, which is why Instagram's looking to add them wherever it can.
