Google is launching a new feature that will help you find the cheapest flight for your next tour. The company announced on Wednesday that it is adding a new "cheapest" tab to Google Flights.
To date, Google has only displayed what they consider to be the "best" option at the top as their answer for both price and convenience. Some consumers are willing to sacrifice a little bit of convenience to save a few dollars, though.
Now, if you click the "cheapest" tab, you're going to see the cheapest options. For example, you will even see how much a third-party booking site can offer cheaper than if you booked directly with the airline, or how you can save money by coming in at a different airport in the same city you left from. So, if you took off out of New York's LaGuardia, you can come back into JFK.
For example, Google reports that some of the new options within a window are not only more "creative," with longer layovers and self-transfers where you book two connecting flights yourself but also include options to buy different legs of your trip through multiple airlines or booking sites.
According to the company, this tab is for those occasions when price matters more than convenience -- the tab will let you see the cheapest available prices and then let you decide which trade-offs you're willing to make.
Rolling out the new tab to users all over the world over the next two weeks.
