Google unveils new update that makes shopping results more personalized according to reports, the company said on Wednesday. The new feature allows users to rate different products in order to get style recommendations when one goes shopping for apparel, shoes, and accessories. This is part of an update in which the company continues its sparring with retail giants Amazon and Walmart, which have released their AI-powered features to compete with Google's shopping capabilities.

Go to Google, look for something like "men's polo shirts", and you will now get a new section by the name of "style recommendations" which will let you rate options with a thumbs up or thumbs down. You also have the option to rate the products with a Tinder-like swipe gesture. If you are unsure about an item, skip it. Once you've rated your selection of products, Google will then yield such personalized results where you can sift through:.

If what you see isn't quite what you were looking for, Google will give you the option to rate more items to see more results. Google will remember your preferences. If you ever do a search for men's polo shirts again, based on what you liked the last time you did it, you will probably get recommendations for style.

If you make a thumbs up to something you don't like or simply want to opt out of having personalized shopping results at all, you can manage your preferences. Just tap on the three-dot menu next to a result and navigate to personalization options inside the "About this result" panel.

This would be made available to all U.S. shoppers accessing using mobile browsers and the Google app. Google said it would make no public statement or confirmation over whether the functionality would be expanded to more countries or at what time.

The company has mentioned that people are shopping on Google over a billion times per day and viewing more than 45 billion products in their search results. Google has reported that it refreshes more than two billion listings every hour with new information on price, in-stock availability, and shipping details.
