X's former head of policy has joined Tools for Humanity, the firm developing the technology underlying World Network, a crypto-based protocol whose earlier version is called Worldcoin.

Nick Pickles, who most recently ran global affairs at X, Elon Musk's social media platform, will be Tools for Humanity's chief policy officer. He joins a firm co-founded five years ago by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

According to Reuters, Pickles revealed that move in an interview published on Thursday, adding that he is "optimistic" concerning the regulatory proposals for technology by incoming President Donald Trump.

Pickles worked years at Twitter before Musk sold the company and renamed it to X. He served with regulators in shaping proposal and representing the company at global forums. He was promoted in July.

Musk and Pickles' new boss don't exactly get along. Earlier this year, Musk sued Altman and OpenAI for allegedly abandoning the AI startup's nonprofit mission in violation of contractual terms. Pickles declined to comment on the litigation when asked by Reuters.
