After testing it with Instagram Reels, Facebook will now be trying on a new feature called "Clear Mode" to let users have a clutter-free experience in the app while checking Reels.
Facebook is experimenting on an option that would let users hide the description and user interface buttons on Reels clips, to view them in a cleaner form.
In Meta, "Clear Mode," activated through screen long-press, could make it easier to watch full Reels as well and might prove useful in clips with elements obscured by the on-screen text and function buttons.
This is not available as of yet, though.
As was noted, Meta has been experimenting with the same feature on Instagram over the past several months, but the feature hasn't rolled out more extensively. So, Facebook's clear mode is behind that; so while it's coming along, it's going to be available to everyone yet.
Not surprisingly, TikTok also comes with the same functionality it's been sporting for years: users may remove the UI and description text by long pressing on a clip. The catch is that you only clear the display for each video that you're watching individually and as soon as you swipe to the next video, the UI elements spring back.
Which is, actually, quite sensible, as TikTok needs to take all the spotlight to the creator of each clip; and I am willing to bet that Meta's Reels clear mode would do something similar.
When it is eventually released.
We'll let you know when there are some changes.
