Apple launched "Mac week" with a revamp of its perennial favorite all-in-one, the iMac. The big news here is the addition of the newish M4 chip, which the company says is 2x more powerful than the original M1 iMac. The new desktop arrives notably with the general availability of Apple Intelligence, debuting as part of the macOS Sequoia 15.2 update.
The system is built around a 24-inch 4K display. Above this is a 12-megapixel webcam, built for the company's Center Stage feature. The four ports on the rear of the device, meanwhile, are now a faster Thunderbolt 4. These are accompanied by a long-awaited refresh to the company's keyboard, mouse, and trackpad accessories, finally ditching Lightning for the far more ubiquitous - and generally better - USB-C.
You can now pre-order that new iMac, starting at $1,299. For your money, you will get an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU along with 16GB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 32GB, 256GB, or 2TB. For those really needing power, a base model of this device boasts a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, at a minimum starting price of $1,499. Nano-texture display to further minimize glare is available, as are other upgrades.
The M4 starts shipping November 8. Available colors are green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and the classic silver.
