Apple's Vision Pro hasn't exactly shaken things up, but the company is certainly not abandoning the dream of headsets that bridge the digital and real worlds.
A new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says Apple's next big mixed-reality release will likely come in 2024, when it launches its Vision headset at around $2,000 - not exactly inexpensive, but much more budget-friendly than the $3,500 Vision Pro. Apple would presumably get that sort of price point by employing cheaper materials and a less powerful processor, and it won't pack the EyeSight feature that lets users see their eyes outside of the headset.
The second generation of Vision Pro should come in 2026, then smart glasses, like Meta's Ray-Bans, and AirPods with cameras in 2027.
A companion report details Apple's smart home plans. Again, the company seems to make little headway; this group reportedly has an "affordable iPad-like screen" that could surround a home to watch TV, dial FaceTime calls and use apps and would follow a tabletop device with a robot arm, potentially costing around $1,000.
